Aaah, sorry to the people who actually keep track of me on here. You are few, but I appreciate you. The last few months have been incredibly rocky for me. (Understatement.) I am in school now, at Kansas City Art Institute. I like it. It's a little tough for me to keep up with everything, but I'm holding my own so far.

I did start a tumblr, http://knmajor.tumblr.com/, if you're interested in seeing my artwork and animation. I'm not sure how much I'll keep up with lj. It always seems to be really glitchy recently. Is it that way for anyone else?

Another Apartment Rant. Yes, I Know. [Jun. 1st, 2011|09:50 pm]
Kelly, master of the pigmoose
Our power went out tonight. I attempted to get it back on myself, and I was trying the right breaker, just couldn't get the darned thing all the way for some reason, though it felt like I'd gotten it. So my landlord had to come over and do it. You can imagine the kind of look he gave me when all he had to do was press one little button, and the look continued after I insisted I had tried, really tried, multiple times, to press that same stupid button.

Anyway, apparently we can't really run both of the AC units in our apartment at the same time. I was already going to have to sleep in the living room because of the heat, so I'm getting pretty scowly-faced about this apartment situation. But I do live, as a friend of mine so eloquently put it, on a porch, so yeah.

My next apartment will be better. It will be so much better.

Jesus. Neighbor was just banging on the door wanting my roommate to quiet down her phone conversation. He said to me, "Normally I wouldn't care, but it's 2:00 and you're right below me." Which I thought was weird, since he saw me turn to my roommate's bedroom door, which is right near the front of the apartment (below his room), and asking her to be quiet. I guess I can chalk that up to his being tired? Heart still pounding. That was so startling. UGH. I HATE EVERYTHING. Good night.

I submitted my application for SCAD today, and it turns out I can't submit my portfolio online until I am given an ID by SCAD admission. I wish I had known this earlier so I could have just mailed the darned thing. Submitting it online seemed better, but not when we have to go and complicate things. C'mon. I just don't want this to count against me as far as applying on time. I didn't knoooowwww. *sad face* Oh well, it will be all right.

Anyhoo, this is application 2 of 3. I'll be done with school applications shortly and on to FAFSA applications. Fun!

I just want it done with already. [Jan. 29th, 2011|09:36 am]

My vehicle registration is going to expire and there is nothing I can do about it. I know that renewing a little late isn't really going to be a big deal, but I can't help but be really stressed about it!

My car's emissions light will not go off. I have been trying to get this fixed, but after three trips to the shop trying to diagnose the problem, and having repairs to the thing that seemed to be causing the problem, I was told I'd have to go to the dealer.

So, what am I pissed off about today? The dealer, of course. (As if there was any doubt. Nobody likes going to the dealer.) Their website lists their service department's Saturday hours as 7:30 to 1:00, so I was a bit surprised when I tried to call them after 7:30 and got an automated after-hours message (which, again, listed off the service dapartment's Saturday hours as 7:30 to 1:00.) I went over there at around 8:30 just to see, and it was definitely closed.

I waited until 9:00, the dealer's regular Saturday hours, to call back and got ahold of them. The too-cheerful woman who answered told me the service department was closed to day. I told her their website said that it was open on Saturdays, and timidly asked if that was inaccurate. Oh, she said, their "Quick Lane" is open, which does...oil changes, pretty much. That is not your service department! The website and/or telephone system should mention in their listing off of hours that it is the Quick Lane, and not the actual service department, that is open on Saturday. It would not be a difficult thing to do! And customers appreciate being provided with genuinely accurate information about your hours of operation, believe it or not. It's true!

I'm really frustrated and upset about this whole stupid thing. It is stupid. Stupid.

More Tales of (Guitar Heroless) Woe [Jan. 16th, 2011|04:18 pm]

Maybe some of you have been following the story of me and Guitar Hero and how I am apparently not allowed to play Guitar Hero.

Here is the next chapter of that story.

After having gotten two guitar controllers to no avail, and coming to the conclusion my Playstation must be the party to blame, I sat on the whole thing for a while. I was embarrassed to go back to the game store a second time to return what I figured was actually a perfectly good, fully functioning piece of equipment, so I decided not to. At first I thought I'd wait and get a PS3, but I've been really debating whether or not I want to get one, and is is a pretty big chunk of change.

Eventually, last week, I broke down and decided to pick up a used PS2. Came home thinking finally, finally, I could play Guitar Hero. It didn't work either.

Today, went to exchange that PS2 for yet another one. The guy decided to hook me up with the slim unit, saying he's played Guitar Hero on those with no problem. It also didn't work.

Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong? What am I doing wrong? Whyyyyyy?! *bangs head against wall*

Survey says: you will die cold and alone. [Dec. 21st, 2010|12:08 am]

Took this KU survey on flirting, just for kicks. (via thehairpin.com) The results are, well, confusing and self-contradictory! I think part of the trouble is that the questions do not really distinguish between one's views on what flirting is and ought to be, and one's actual flirting habits/style. Also..it assumes that everyone taking the quiz engages in flirtation at all. Or maybe I just don't properly understand what flirtation is. I dunno. Because I do also feel that this survey conflates flirtation with dating more than it ought. One's views on dating don't always have much to do with one's views on flirting. They are not the same! (Also worth mentioning whoever put this together didn't consider that dudes can flirt with dudes and ladies can flirt with ladies. Whoops.) Anyway, if you're curious about my INNER WORKINGS, enjoy.

Your results are in!Collapse )

That was not a good use of my time. [Dec. 16th, 2010|10:45 pm]

Driver from Laclede Gas called at 1:00 and asked hurriedly if I could be at the apartment in ten minutes. I told him realistically it would probably be just a little longer than that, what with the ice and all, but eventually he said, okay, let's meet now. I had been about to eat lunch, but I didn't want to miss my window, so I rushed on out into the cold and over to the apartment. The landlord has a couple space heaters set up there. Even so, it was barely warmer inside than out. The first 45 minutes went like so:

I was there for three hours, most of which I spent sitting on the floor huddled next to one of the barely functioning space heaters. (At least they're probably not a fire hazard, with such a low output?) Then Sheila took over for a little over an hour, and after some (fairly unproductive) phone callin' with Laclede I told her to come on home until we heard back from them.

1:00 the driver said they'd be there in ten minutes. 2:00 a rep told us the driver still should be on his way, any time. 5:00 nobody could even get ahold of the driver--some kind of emergency must have arisen, though they had no idea what it was. They told me they'd call me back, and at 7:30 still no word. I called and told them we'd have to reschedule. THIS WAS MY DAY.

So, all that and still no heat in the new apartment. Yep. I'm sure some of you have been through this before, but this was my first time dealing with it and yes, I was somewhat upset. I usually move in the summer. (You know, like everybody else.) Gonna stick with that as much as possible in future, I think.

Oh, sure, I'll be there. [Dec. 16th, 2010|09:59 am]

Moving to a new apartment in the middle of winter when the heat has already been turned off is, as it turns out, pretty inconvenient. Sheila made an appointment for the gas company to turn on the heat today, and though she told them, and they made a note, we prefer them to come after 2:00 pm, it is an open appointment and she was told they would come between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Hahaha, no. I told them to call me when they're coming. Nobody's sitting around alone in a cold, empty apartment for up to ten hours. What the hell is wrong with you, Laclede?
